My latest creation - Zori socks
I love to knit. I have for quite awhile now and I have tried to make just about anything you can think of. Sweaters, blankets, slippers(although, I’m not very good at slippers you can ask my dad…), felted bags, scarves, mittens, hats, socks, even an ipod case and a cell phone cover, and the list just goes on and on. Lots of it I have given away, some of it is just stacked up in the house. I mean what do you do with 15 felted bags? Or 10 scarves? Or a bazillion bad attempts at slippers for my dad…I’m starting to blame his feet, there must be something wrong with them. But my newest creation is one of my favorites!! I’m calling them zori socks. Zori is what my dad calls flip-flops, at least that is what he calls them now that we’ve broke him of the habit of calling them thongs. I thought flip-flop socks sounded stupid, so zori socks it is! They are a sock, but the sock stops just below the toes and then has a small piece that goes right inbetween your first two toes.
Here’s a visual for ya! (Yes, I know I have a nice looking foot, thank you )
The best part about these socks is that you can wear them with your flippies!!!
I’m going back to the yarn store today, I’m getting more sock yarn, and I’m making another pair. I have some ideas that will make them better. I may even make some matching leg warmers…watch out…can’t stop me!
i love your zori socks and i’m the first to comment so can have i have pair next?
or perhaps while you’re with me, we can knit some together….love you my own private yarn whisperer…what a lucky mom i am to have you!
I love your Zori socks too. Your feet are lovely and I love the strips. I just have one problem. The part of my foot that gets cold is my toes!! The rest of them are okay. Maybe you could invent Zori Sock Too and take care of my cold toes. I know you could do it. What do you think?
ummm yes, yarn-whisperer? i was wondering if you might whip me out a pair of those for my upcoming visit. you see, the weather here is VERY hot and i think my little tootsies might get kind of chilly. all my normal shoes are in a handy-dandy storage facility and all i have are ‘zoris’. wearing normal socks with flip-flops is NOT an option. so you see, i am in dire need of a handy pair of “zori-socks” :)
I think they are just plain weird… :) For Nancy’s problem, I think you should just make little covers for the toes.. that would be hilarious!!! Maybe there should be two parts to your little socks.. the part you made and then little toe covers!
I think she should be teaching lots of classes on how to knit them. She has hit it off with the felted bags, and I think the summer option would be the zori socks. They look like they are quick and easy to knit, just what you want for beginners. Her feet are also very nice to look at, I get lots of upclose time with them because she loves foot rubs.
I just love how Royal shares personal information on his blog comments! :) I would love to see what he would write about on his own blog!!!
See all ya Shelton-ites in 6 days!!
I say we do a whole photo shoot with the zori socks and all the sexy feet they go on! You could market the freakin’ things and be the sugar momma again!
(Your photos are great by the way, but seeing how your great friend Amy is a professional and all. . .) :)
Ooooh, we could photograph all your creations and make a coffee table book with your fabulous stories!
Oh my gosh, I’m getting all excited. . .oh, the potential!
Do you think you could create a pattern for zori socks for those of us who crochet? Feet -yours are beautiful.
You are so creative!
