Christmas Time is Here…
Is it too early to start with Christmas music? Usually I try and hold off at least until October, and then I phase in Christmas music with some of the fall/harvest CD’s that I have. All day I have been humming “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” and “Christmas Time is Here” (from Peanuts), and I have been feeling a little strange since it is 90 degrees outside. Maybe I’m singing chestnuts because I feel like I am one, roasting on the open fire thanks to it being so hot outside. But I finally gave into my Christmas self and found my piano music and played “Christmas Time is Here”. Royal was eating dinner and said, “That sounds like Charlie Brown music”. Little did he know that is was Charlie Brown Christmas music. I feel much better, but I also feel like I am ready to start looking for a Christmas tree. I wonder if it would survive… Maybe I’ll just get out some Christmas lights and string them up in the office, then I could sit in the office, spin some yarn while listening to Christmas music and looking at twinkling lights. I am liking the idea more and more! Christmas time is here, Happiness and cheer, Fun for all that children call, Their favorite time of the year…..
I love my wife but she is truly crazy about Christmas. She starts with the music and decorations earlier and earlier every year. Soon I will take down the Christmas stuff, put up Spring, and then immediately do Christmas once Spring is gone. I fight it but it is hardly worth the battle. She continues on.
Wow! I force myself to hold off on Christmas festivities till after Thanksgiving!!
I do think you may be a little crazy Rachel. . .as you said. . .it’s 90 degrees out!!
And the skockings were hung at the chimney with care. . .
I love to decorate for EVERY season. I have done this since before the kids were born. Fall and Christmas are my most favorite times of year. Maybe it’s the colors of fall that get me jazzed to change up the decor in my house. I don’t know, but now you have inspired me to get started. Lauree was a good sport and climbed into the atic for me and got down all my fall stuff. Today is the day to bring Fall inside. I will enjoy it until the day after Thanksgiving (like Amy) and
t h e n….”CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE” will resound loud and clear inside and out! I’m really glad I’ve got Fall to enjoy until then. I’ll have to get a hold of those fall/harvest cd’s you talked about.
I want to celebrate Christmas in a different way this year. Maybe a trip to someplace where it is warm and sunny. I am thinking a sandy, warm beach and blue water or Disney Land maybe. Oh ya!!
I’m going to have to agree with Nanny! Nothing feels right. I don’t think I’m going to get into the Christmas spirit at all this year. Normally, I’m with you Rach; days start getting darker and cooler and my nesting instincts take over. Out with the fall music and even some of the winter music! But living in Phoenix I can’t bring myself to do it. It’s way too wierd. There are palm trees here and no matter what the date is, a palm tree just looks like summer to me! Besides, all of my music, decorations, candles and fall/winter parafanilia is locked away in a dusty garage and there’s no sign of getting my hands on it anytime soon. I guess I’m just sticking with summer this year. “Let’s go surfing now, everybody’s learning how, come on and safari with me….”
It is never too early for Christmas music, the Nutcracker, college bowl games, decorations and a whole lot of over-eating! :)
Can’t wait to hear you play christmas music on the piano!!
