The Club and Jojee Pig

Aunt Kay-Kay, Uncle Rand, Cousin Brendan, and The Wyatt got Jayden a chainsaw for his birthday. I think this is Jayden’s first step into being a junior member of my dad’s club, The Loyal Order of Log Botherers. The club was originally founded by my dad’s dad, but as he now is bothering logs in Heaven, my dad has had to take over the role of the Grand Pooba (a.k.a the leader). Basically, if you like to use chainsaws, split wood, build big fires and then constantly bother them by poking and readjusting, you just might get to be a member. You have to be good at it though, and you have to prove yourself worthy. Sadly, I’m not a member. I can split wood with the best of ‘em, but I cannot get a fire going and keep it going to save my life, unless there is lighter fluid or gasoline involved. I do however get to be a silent member, as Royal is so in the club. We drive by trees that have fallen down on the side of the road and Royal starts coming up with a plan on how we can get back to that spot with his truck and a chain saw because he wants to chop it up and bring it home. We don’t even have a fire place at our house, but obviously that doesn’t matter…

Jayden has been using his chainsaw all over the house. He saws on corners, the couch, legs, stomachs. Pretty much whatever he can pretend to cut up, he will.

Also, here’s an update on Pig, which is now referred to by Jayden as Jojee Pig. Jayden gave Jojee Pig a drink of milk after breakfast.

Then Jojee Pig took a nap, and Jayden covered him with a blankie.

Im glad that Jojee pig is adjusting to its new home and its really good to see how well Jayden is taking care of “pig.” He is going to be an awesome big brother.

I love your stories and your pictures! Jayden reminds me of when his uncle Jon had his very own chain saw, given to him by his “logger Papa” (Cleveland). It was yellow and made a great noise and the chain (of little ball barings) would go around and around. Jon also sported a plastic yellow “hard hat”. Very authentic looking to a little boy. He did the same as Jayden. He cut up E V E R Y T H I N G, even the dog!
Nothin’ quite like the imagination of a little boy. I miss those days…I’m glad I get to relive some of those memories through the young mommies in and around my little world. Thanks for letting me in on some of our life.

I can’t wait until I can get him a real chain saw and we can do some serious damage. To trees of course.
