Race for the Cure

This weekend Royal, Jayden, and I participated in the Wichita-Komen Race for the Cure for breast cancer. This was the first “race” that Royal and I have ever done where we signed up for the non-competitive walk, which means we weren’t timed. So unlike us…we’re way to competitive for our own good. But this way, we could bring Jayden with us in the stroller, and my StrollerFit class was also participating, so we were part of the StrollerFit team. Royal had a hard time in the beginning not wanting to pass every single person, but he finally chilled out about half way through when the crowd thinned a little and we were able to walk at our own pace. Which wasn’t that fast, as I am getting slower and slower these days. By the end of the 5K, there was way more waddle than I would of liked to my walk. :) But it was fun to get out and do our first “race” here in Wichita, I know we’ll do lots more before our time here is up!

Here is Jayden sporting one of the freebies from the race. A pink warrior scarf that we tied around his head!

Sweet. Looks fun. Jayden looks so big in that top picture. I see he still has that painful looking forced smile though. :)

There were so many people, it was pretty amazing. Jayden did well, he could walk the next one for sure.
