Big Crash and Bugs
**sorry no pics of the kids in this post. feel free to leave nasty comments or skip reading altogether**
Jayden and I were very close witnesses to a car accident that happened the other day. So close, that if the car would of swerved to miss the car that turned into it’s lane, they would of swerved into us. It was pretty scary to watch. I sat there with my hands over my mouth going, “oh my gosh, oh my gosh”, watching it all happen in slow motion. Then the cars smashed into each other and people’s airbags popped out, it was quite the event. Everybody in the other cars were ok, but I have been fielding questions about the accident for the past week, pretty much every time we get in the car. “Hey mom, why did those cars crash?” “Hey mom, why was there an accident?” “Hey mom, were we in the accident?” “Hey mom, those cars crashed right?” “Why would they do that?” “Are they broken?” “Do they need some glue?” “Hey mom, drive careful. Don’t get in an accident.” We stayed at the scene until the police and firetrucks arrived, which Jayden thought was awesome, because he got to see the firetruck up close with “it’s lights on!” and a fireman came over to Jayden’s window (which he had me roll down) to make sure he was ok. And once Jayden told him he was ok, the fireman told Jayden to come down to the station sometime and he’d show him the firetruck up close and let him drive it. I’m not sure that guy knew what he was promising because now Jayden wants to actually drive the firetruck. Anyway, it’s been obvious that Jayden has been processing the whole thing. This was the scene in the kitchen the other day. Jayden told me there was an accident.

And some accident it was. Flipped over semi trucks, farm animals in the road, crashed airplanes, upside down tractors. When I told Jayden later that he had to help me clean it up. He said that I couldn’t touch it and that he couldn’t help me pick it up. When I asked why. He said, “Because mom, those guys have to wait for the firetruck to show up. The firetruck is going to clean up the mess” And then he turned and walked out of the room.
In other completely unrelated news, Royal found this on the stairs last night. I had walked right by it a few minutes earlier and didn’t really notice it. Good thing too, because I would of screamed and ran back down the stairs.

I am SOOOOOO grateful I do not have to be the bug catcher in the family. Royal was just gonna smash it on the stairs, but then I said it would just leave blood and guts everywhere because it was so big, so I convince Royal to catch it in the cup.

Plus, by catching it in a cup, I could take these pictures of it, so all of you can see what it really looked like. Kansas has some nasty critters!!! Try not to scream. :)

I just posted about bugs too. I’ll take fireflies thankyou very much. That spider is disgusting!
Comment by Kay-Kay 06.28.09 @ 6:50 pmJayden’s processing of the accident you two witnessed just cracks me up….especially the part where the firetruck is gonna come and clean up all the “accidents” under the table! He is the funniest little guy! I miss him so much…. Am glad I don’t have those kind of nasty spiders here…..where was scooter? she should have eaten it!
Comment by nana 06.28.09 @ 9:52 pmI had a similar happening but it was with the tractor mowing the hay at my parents house.. William so wanted to DRIVE the tractor, he just didn’t understand why he couldn’t.
Comment by Jami 06.28.09 @ 10:37 pmMaybe Jayden will be one of those accident investigators. The spider did not survive once I got him outside.
