We started out the day going to Strollerfit in our costumes. Willow was not happy about the group picture we tried to do after class, don’t worry, I rescued her right after this.
Jayden’s best friend Noah was there.
They held hands as we did our parade around the mall.
Then we tried to get a picture of the 3 little ladybugs (Elena, Willow, and Joyce), but it wasn’t that successful. :) Have you ever seen Willow so unhappy in pictures???? Me neither!
Jayden and I made some pumpkin cupcakes today too.
And then it was time to get all dressed up again and head out the door. Willow was much happier about it this time.
Jayden did some singing while he was sick, laying around on the couch. You can tell he’s pretty plugged up and then he gets a little distracted by Willow dancing around to the music and his nose running and stuff. :)
We stayed home sick today. Jayden finally came down with the cold that Willow has had for the past week….boo. But at least we’ll get the majority of it out of our systems before trick or treating this weekend! Yipee!! So, on sick days, we spend a lot of time in the basement, playing with toys, resting on the couch, watching movies, reading books, wiping snotty noses, stuff like that. The game of the day turned out to be hiding behind a wall. Guess they are practicing their “tricks” for this weekend.
First, I found Willow doing this.
Then after a bathroom break, I came back and found the jumper like this.
I thought, “What the?” Then I saw :
I love this picture, it looks like Jayden is super-fast!
Willow got a new helmet this weekend! We’ve already hitched up the trailer to my bike a couple times and rode down to the park. Jayden’s gonna have to master riding his own bike soon because he is almost too tall to ride in the trailer anymore. Although he gets pretty excited about riding in there with Willow, so he scrunches himself down so he’ll fit. He tells me that he has to ride in there and hold Willow’s hand so she doesn’t get scared. He’s the best big brother ever!
And can we say that Willow’s eyes have officially turned from blue to green???
We carved up our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch tonight. Royal LOVES carving pumpkins, me, well, I’m indifferent, so Royal does the majority of the work. I carved my own and Royal did all the rest. :) And you just can’t have enough reasons to wear cute pumpkin hats, so I made my kids wear theirs while they carved pumpkins. That’s just the kind of mom I am. :)
Jayden had a specific plan for each of the pumpkins and what they needed to look like. So, he told Royal what to do and Royal carved out the face.
This is Nana’s pumpkin. She picked it out at the patch and didn’t take it with her, so Jayden said that the pumpkin needed to look like her. What do you think?
This is Willow’s pumpkin. It is the smallest of the bunch and it too needed to look like Willow.
This is the scary pumpkin.
This is Royal’s pumpkin and Jayden designed it to look like Royal because “dad is so happy, yeah”
And this is my pumpkin. I think it looks like me, shiny face, big smile. :)
Jayden loves singing songs. He sings All. The. Time. If Willow is ever freaking out in the car, the only thing I’ve found that will calm her down is if Jayden sings to her. When I was in Washington this summer, I was driving back to my parent’s house from Royal’s parent’s house, which is a couple hour drive, and Jayden and Willow fell asleep. Then Willow woke up and started screaming because she doesn’t like to be in the car when it’s dark and she’s tired, and I still have a good hour left of the drive. After I tried everything (other than pulling over) to calm her down, I finally woke Jayden up and had him sing to her the rest of the way. As soon as Twinkle, Twinkle Little Start started up, she was quiet and just watched him sing. I’m never leaving on a long car ride with Willow without taking Jayden, that’s for sure!
I have been trying to video tape Jayden singing for the longest time, but wouldn’t you know, he doesn’t really like performing for me. Shocking…. However, I managed to get this last night. Royal found a website that will play just the music to a bunch of kids song, so I was able to record him on the computer without him knowing because it was “hidden” behind the webpage with the music. Genius!!!
So here, for your viewing entertainment, is Jayden singing “Oh, My Darling Clementine”
My parents are only here for a couple more days before they load up their motor home and cruise on down the road towards Pennsylvania and the Wagners. Jayden has been really excited to show Papa and Nana the zoo, so we decided we would go today. Here are a few pictures of just some of the animals we saw today.
The zoo is getting ready for it’s annual Night of the Living Zoo event, so dad thought he’d try out the guillotine, since you know, it was just sitting around.
Jayden wasn’t too sure the chimpanzee, whose name is Marbles, was really going to sit there and not jump on him.
Despite the chilly weather this morning and the chance for extremely muddy conditions (thanks to the rain last night), we bundled up the kids, grabbed papa and nana, loaded up the car, and headed to the pumpkin patch. And. It. Was. Cold. Way different from last year when it was quite warm, but I think we had fun anyway. And thanks to myself and my mom armed with cameras, we managed to take a ton of pictures. :)
Willow got to wear Jayden’s old camo fleece outfit. Good thing I made her pumpkin hat pink this year!
Jayden and I did a little teeter-tottering
Jayden raced some ducks!
And then it was time for the big slide!
Then we hit up the good ‘ole corn maze! They did have a small milo maze for little kids to do by themselves, but Jayden had no interest in that. He only wanted to run and get lost in the corn.
Then onto the pumpkin patch to find our perfect pumpkins!
My parents have once again driven their motor home halfway across the country and are here visiting. We don’t know for how long, but they are cruising around with no agenda and are at least here for maybe another week or so. Willow and Jayden are taking full advantage of more playmates in the house. ;)
Storytime with Papa
Resting on Jayden’s bed pretending there are sharks swimming around.
